Minecraft block palette generator

Name one block you want to build around and the tool finds combinations by texture colour in OKLab space, material first and colour second: a lightness ladder of the same hue, neighbouring hues, a contrasting accent, a neutral base, and wood with stone for a classic build. A scheme is a starting point: edit the list of 3–8 blocks by hand — add, remove, reorder and swap. The palette is shown in 3D at once on a board, one stripe per block, the way builders lay them out on servers. A finished palette can be published as a post: a tile grid of textures, likes and comments, and anyone can open it in the tool and make their own.

How it works

  1. Pick the seed block from the list (search by name; only blocks with a known colour are listed).
  2. Survival or All-blocks palette and the Minecraft version — blocks newer than it are not suggested.
  3. Click through the schemes: monochrome, analogous, contrast, neutral + accent, wood + stone — each keeps its own list and board, and edits in one scheme survive switching to another; “Random variant” rebuilds the current scheme from close alternatives.
  4. Edit the list by hand: add a block, remove one, drag rows to reorder, swap any block with the picker — three to eight blocks.
  5. Download the board as .litematic or .schem, or press “Share” — the palette becomes a post others can open in the tool.

FAQ

How does it pick the blocks?

By the average colour of the side texture in OKLab — a colour space where distances match what the eye sees. Each scheme sets targets (lighter, darker, neighbouring hue, opposite hue) and the closest blocks are found; ores, precious and utility blocks are left out.

What does the board show?

4×6 stripes of each block side by side, in list order, to see the textures large and how they meet. The same board is the post’s file and the schematic you download.

What is a palette post?

A post without a build: a tile grid of block textures, title, description, likes and comments like any post. “Open in the tool” opens the palette for editing, and publishing edits creates a new post that links back to the original.

Is it free, no sign-up?

Yes. Everything is computed in the browser; nothing is uploaded.
